Who do we host

Volunteering here we like to stay true to the basic ethics of Workaway and HelpX. The basic deal for us is you are helping us with various tasks and projects in exchange for food and accommodation whilst having an opportunity to be totally immersed in the beautiful Normandy bocage countryside.

However if you need an internship or work experience for horses we can also host you, though a modest contribution to food will be expected.

Unlike many hosts we are not in any way commercial, you are helping a couple who are pushing on regardless in life despite various medical problems but have a lot of knowledge in various fields.

Our profile explains what we are doing here. Unfortunately a few would be helpers and some that come here and then have had to be asked to leave, don’t seem to have read the profile and only looked at the photos; please read the profile and you can always ask us questions.

We do prefer helpers who can cook as it brings part of your culture to the table and spreads the load. We are not happy hosting vegetarians and more extreme as we are not vegetarian, though we only eat small amounts of meat.

If you are a first time volunteer it is a good idea that you read the Practical Woof Guide to Woofing. Go to http://www.wwoof.fr/eng/wwoofer2.htm and click on “Practical guide to WWOOFing”. We are not yet ready to be a Wwoof host but perhaps the guide will give you a good idea on general volunteering in a country environment.

Many would be helpers are interested in horses: we must emphasise we are not a Horse Riding Holiday Camp. Most contact with horses is the care of them, including the feeding, cleaning and moving lots of poo. If you want to ride, we need to see you can ride, and that you are truly comfortable and sensitive with our horses. Ours are not riding school horses.
